WEBER SHANDWICK MALAYSIA RECEIVES HONOURS AT MPRA 2010

Weber Shandwick was recognised for three outstanding campaigns at this year’s Malaysia PR Awards.  Weber Shandwick walked away with the highly-coveted Promotional Activity of the Year award for YOUTH’10, Malaysia’s Largest Youth Festival, snagged a Certificate of Excellence for Public Affairs Campaign of the Year for Ekuiti Nasional Bhd (Ekuinas) and also received an Honourable Mention for Environmental Campaign of the Year for the GreenFingers Eco-Project of Standard Chartered Malaysia Berhad.  These big wins demonstrate the Malaysia team’s ability to create and deliver effective campaigns that exceed client expectations across practice areas. Weber Shandwick has a history of success at MPRA, winning Corporate Branding Campaign of the Year and Business-to-Business Campaign of the Year in 2007 and in 2008 receiving the award for Healthcare: Ethical Campaign of the Year.

P&G’S PROJECT PARIVARTAN HELPS WOMEN OF RAJASTHAN

P&G’s Project Parivartan, a public affairs campaign supported by Corporate Voice | Weber Shandwick, has changed lives of women across rural Rajasthan in India. Parivartan ('change') promotes menstrual hygiene in the state of Rajasthan by convincing village women to adopt P&G’s high-quality sanitary napkins, rather than using handmade alternatives. Winning the support of health workers, activists, and state government officials at every level, an army of health workers were trained to initiate a massive awareness drive about the benefits of branded sanitary napkins, and sold napkins at a discount to thousands of rural women. Parivartan’s success may have inspired the central government, as they have pledged budgetary support for sanitary napkins, the Delhi government is considering a similar programme, and senior national-level politicians are contemplating the elimination of applicable taxes on sanitary napkins.
MASTERCARD PURCHASE WITH PURPOSE™ IN JAPAN

Weber Shandwick Japan coordinated a special blogger event launching the MasterCard Purchase with Purpose program at the Roppongi Hills shopping and entertainment complex in Tokyo. The program enables MasterCard cardholders to contribute to the community when they use their MasterCard card to pay for purchases with participating merchants during the Roppongi Hills Christmas Market fair. Part of the proceeds from each sale is donated to the Make-A-Wish of Japan through the owners of Roppongi Hills, Mori Building Co. The event was attended by 24 bloggers generating excellent online coverage and spreading the word about the cause. Weber Shandwick created collateral to promote the collaborative project. Design elements were used to decorate Roppongi Hills, while a video was regularly broadcasted throughout the complex to promote Purchase with Purpose. The event video can be viewed here.
PFIZER ENCOURAGES ENBREL AWARENESS IN CHINA

Weber Shandwick in Beijing supported Pfizer’s launch of Enbrel, the number one most prescribed biological therapy for five lifelong inflammatory diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Though in China, Enbrel is only the third biological drug to enter the market. Weber Shandwick organised a press conference held in Beijing, which included a live broadcast across four key online mediums. Within two months, the team generated over 45 print reports and 165 online clips successfully delivering the benefits of Enbrel. Momentum continued over the following months through media cooperation within second tier cities, including online interviews with key opinion leaders on popular Chinese portal sohu.com. The campaign successfully increased patient awareness of how to treat RA and AS and the inquiry rate of Enbrel in hospitals has significantly increased in China.
