STANDARD CHARTERED LEADS GREEN PLEDGE IN MALAYSIA
Weber Shandwick created GreenFingers, a long-term environmental project for Standard Chartered to enhance its ongoing sustainability agenda and showcase its commitment to the local community. Under GreenFingers, the bank pledged to plant 11,000 trees nationwide. The programme received full support from the local Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and was also recognised as part of the United Nations Environment Programme’s Billion Tree Campaign, which aims to plant one billion trees worldwide every year. Weber Shandwick conceptualised and created a Facebook application called GreenFingers’ Treeville, where fans can grow their own virtual trees. The campaign has already generated valuable media coverage around the environmental cause, and the programme continues to raise awareness and implement green practices throughout Malaysia. |
